Heat Fall 7-4 in Home Opener

Kings 7, Heat 4

A little less than six minutes into their home opener, Brian Ombiji found the back of the net to give the Heat their first lead of the young PASL season. Unfortunately, that advantage would only last for two minutes and six seconds as the Cincinnati Kings sent the equalizer in off a rebound. It was the last time the Heat would find themselves ahead as the Kings prevailed 7-4 in front of 1,819 enthusiastic fans in the Equine Arena at the Farm Show Complex.

Ombiji added two unassisted goals in the second and fourth quarters to finish the match with a hat trick. Tyler Witmer scored off a rebound from one of Jason Hotchkin's team-leading seven shots to account for the other score from the Heat.

In looking ahead to how the Heat are going to improve, head coach Richard Chinapoo told PennLive's Michael Bullock after the game, “We’re not getting blown out, but I told the young guys they’ve gotta grow up fast. I thought the veterans brought a good intensity, brought a good fight, good decisions. The young guys have to close the gap on the veterans and catch up.”
