Game 62: Thunder 7, Senators 3

For the first time all season, the Senators suffered their fourth straight loss as the Trenton Thunder prevailed in a 7-3 victory. All you need to know about this game happened in both halves of the fourth inning.

In the top of the inning, Derek Norris led off the inning with a walk and singles by Archie Gilbert and Alex Valdez loaded the bases with no one out. Stephen King struck out swinging, but Jonathan Tucker worked a walk to push across a run. That brought up Eastern League Player of the Week Stephen Lombardozzi with a chance to break the scoring open and possibly chase Trenton starter Shaeffer Hall from the game. Unfortunately, Lombardozzi grounded into a 5-4-3 double play hitting from the right side of the plate and the Senators only found themselves tied at two instead of ahead. This missed opportunity would come back to haunt the Senators as soon as they took the field in the bottom half of the inning.

A leadoff walk to Deangelo Mack set the table for four straight Trenton base hits and Harrisburg starter Garrett Mock was reeling. He settled down long enough to strike out Raymond Kruml, but two more singles followed and Mock's night was done after a fateful five runs had already came across the plate and put the Senators in a 7-2 hole.

The Senators would score one more run in the seventh inning after a brief rain delay, but for all intent and purposes the game was over much earlier than that.
